Innovative Engineering

Our latest in-vehicle computer mount has been designed to solve safety and ergonomics issues as well as security. Our solution is an ergonomically designed articulating arm that will stow the Itronix GoBook, Panasonic CF-28 (or any other chosen product within a similar mechanical footprint), together with its related port replicator.
The docking station arm is recessed within the bulkhead of the vehicle between the driver and passenger seating. The articulating arm is dampened sufficiently to allow a smooth and controlled descent from its stored position to the pre-designed working height. When stowed the arm automatically locks the computer into a high security enclosure out of sight.
By incorporating suitable docking hardware, the user does not have to worry about making or breaking physical connections to the system for power/other external interfaces. The docking station automatically achieves this when the machine is inserted, such that the required ports are replicated at the rear of the source housing for connection to external devices.
The locking system uses a custom designed electronic key system, which provides extremely high security, as well as ease of use by the operator. The key fob is simply touched against the sensor plate to unlock the unit.
After the unit has been unlocked, if the arm is not lowered within a pre-determined period, the system will automatically re-lock. The system will also lock automatically when the arm is retracted into its housing, removing the need for the operator to remember to activate the locking process.
