Tempus Computers Ltd WEEE Policy

Background Information

From July 1st 2007 the UK’s Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations came fully into force.

All producers were required to join a compliance scheme by 15th march 2007. Tempus Computers Ltd have joined a compliance scheme operated by Valpak (www.valpak.co.uk/weee), who in turn have registered us with the Environment Agency.

Our Producer Number with the Environment Agency is : WEE/GG0045SY

Any Tempus manufactured PC base units have been marked with the wheeled bin symbol, a producer identification mark and a date mark as required by the regulations.

For the purposes of the regulations the products that Tempus is responsible for as a producer are specifically:
Tempus Branded Personal Computer Base Units (Not Monitors).

Please note that any other items supplied by Tempus are the responsibility of the branding company. For example Dell PCs are the responsibility of Dell, and HP Printers are the responsibility of HP.

Disposal process

If you have a Tempus manufactured product that falls within the scope of the WEEE regulations and you wish to utilise our disposal service please use the following process.

If you wish to dispose of an item of Historic WEEE you should, within 28 days of receiving your new Tempus base unit email Tempus at recycle@tempus.co.uk  with the serial number of the new unit, and the model / part number of the old unit to be recycled.

If you wish to dispose of a Tempus base unit supplied after August 2005 at the end of its life please email the serial number to the email address above when you are ready to dispose of it.

You will receive a mail back from Tempus with a unique return number, and the address of our disposal point in Birmingham. If you require the equipment to be collected please state this in your mail with the address that you require collection from and we will quote accordingly.

Once the unit is at our disposal point you can be confident that it will be disposed of in a method fully compliant with the regulations.

It is strongly suggested that you data wipe any PC units prior to sending them to Tempus as there is a possibility under the regulations that the unit could be recycled / reused.
